Derrick Rose is a professional basketball player. He has played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
He was born on October 4, 1988 in Memphis Tennessee. He attended Simeon Career Academy in Chicago Illinois where he played on the varsity team as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia.
He was drafted by his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls with their first overall pick in 2008 NBA draft at age 18 years and 25 days old, making him the youngest player to be drafted number one since LeBron James in 2003 and youngest ever top draft pick from his hometown since Hall of Famer Jerry West who was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers at age 18 years old in 1960.
